Tips for your home

Policies

Payment for service is expected at the time of service

Most clients leave a check on the kitchen counter the day that we are scheduled to clean. STAR CLEANING accepts all forms of payment: cash, check and credit cards. Some clients prefer to keep their credit card number on file so that we may just debit the card after the service is completed.  

Lock-Out Policy

Most clients give us a key to their home or garage door combination for easy access. Some clients prefer to leave the door open the day we are coming or leave a key outside, however, this is not recommended for obvious security reasons.

In the event that we are locked out of your home on your scheduled cleaning day there will be a $25.00 charge to cover our rescheduling expenses.

Cancellations

We understand that it is sometimes necessary to cancel your cleaning visit. We require 48 hours notice so that we may try to fill the spot with another cleaning. We understand that emergencies do arise and we are sympathetic to that.

If your house is on Other week basis we would like to schedule to clean it another day in the same week or the following week and keep your house on the same previous scheduled week.  If your house is going to be cleaned on 4 weeks it takes more time to do it and we have to pay the cleaners for the extra time so we add $ 25.00 on that just to cover the cost for that cleaning!.  

The same applies to Monthly basis 

Inclement Weather

As you know the weather in New England can be unpredictable. If there is a storm in progress on your scheduled cleaning day; ice, snow, thunderstorms etc, it will be a judgment call made by the office as to whether the staff will be going out that day. We would never want to jeopardize the safety and welfare of our staff. If we do have to cancel your visit due to bad weather conditions, every effort will be made to get the cleaning done as soon as possible.

We ask that you please be cognizant of the conditions outside of your home on the day that we are scheduled. Please keep driveways and walkways shoveled, sanded and/or salted so that our staff can access your home without getting injured. If you feel that we may not be able to access the home because of the conditions, please call the office in advance to let us know.

Cleaning Times

In a perfect world we would be able to give you the exact time of arrival on your scheduled cleaning day.  The cleaning schedule is not static, there are often many changes to the schedule every day making it difficult to give an exact time. On your scheduled cleaning day please understand there will be a window of time the crew will be arriving. It will usually be something like early morning,  late morning,  early afternoon,  late afternoon. 

If you are going to be home while the crew is there we ask that you try to stay out of their way. Please make sure the home is ready for cleaning before we arrive so that you are not picking up while they are trying to clean. Our crews are trained to use a specific format for cleaning your home. If they cant follow the system they are trained on, it disrupts the whole balance and usually causes lost productivity and time. 

We also ask that you keep pets and children out of harms way while we are there. Although we use environmentally safe products, there are still some dangers having pets and children in the area.

Cleanability

We are there to clean your home and need to be able to access the areas that you would like cleaned. We ask that things like toys, clothing, wet towels, newspapers, tools, dirty dishes, papers etc. be picked up prior to our arriving. You wouldn't want the crew spending valuable time picking up the house when they are there to clean it.

It is not our customary practice to do dishes, however if there are a few dishes in the sink we will put them in the dishwasher or wash them. If you would like dishes included in the cleaning, please call the office to arrange it. We don't clean litter boxes or dog and cat dishes. Once again if this is something that you may want done please let us know and we can arrange it.
